Hi! I’m Justin Wilfley, your Bearded Benefits Guy!
What is life insurance?
None of us like to talk about it. Or even think about it. It’s an uncomfortable subject because it means thinking about our own mortality. But when the time comes, life insurance offers some financial security for those you’ve left behind. It provides financial compensation in the event of death. Because we don’t sit around thinking about our mortality, we also don’t consider the cost of funeral expenses. Or medical expenses if we should die due to illness. Those expenses will be left for your loved ones to deal with. Life insurance helps cover all of that.
Why do you need it?
Well, for starters, it isn’t for you. Your life insurance policy is, by design, in place to help others in the event of your death continue towards their financial goals. Because we don’t sit around thinking about dying, we don’t think about this either – it costs money to die. Sometimes, a lot of money. Life insurance is there to make sure funeral expenses are covered. To help with medical bills. To pay for future expenses like housing, food, school…. It’s there to make sure your death doesn’t cause financial Chaos.
When do you need to talk about it?
We’ll keep this one simple. Now.
A few more questions:
This is a very common question. It depends on the policy. Some do. Some do not. It’s not uncommon at all to be able to purchase life insurance without a medical exam.
This can be a complicated question. It depends on your individual needs. Our experts can help you calculate how much life insurance you really need based on your unique situation.
You might. There may be a policy you’ve signed up for as part of your employer’s benefits package. It may be enough. Or, it may not. You’re not limited to that policy. We can help you supplement that to ensure your family is taken care of.
Does someone depend on you? If you have a spouse, children, a family member that depends on you, then yes, you do. If you don’t have enough in your estate to cover funeral expenses, then yes, you do. 99% of the time, life insurance is a sound decision.
